Mang’u High School has once again proven its status as a center of academic excellence, leading the pack in the recently concluded 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations. The school has consistently demonstrated strong academic performance and this year was no different.

According to Mang’u High School Chief Principal, John Kuria, the school’s mean score improved significantly, rising from 9.4 to 10.01, translating to an impressive mean grade of B+. The school's remarkable achievements included 107 students attaining A plain, 164 earning A minus, and 114 receiving B+. Thika High School, an extra-county school in Kiambu, also celebrated remarkable results in the 2024 KCSE exams. The school achieved a mean score of 7.7 points, with 355 out of 463 students qualifying for university admission. The school’s Chief Principal, Julius Muraya, urged well-wishers to assist in settling a financial burden of KSh 1.9 million left by the recently graduated Form Four students.
MP Shah Chania Girls High School Celebrates Exceptional Results
At MP Shah Chania Girls High School in Thika, the celebrations were equally jubilant. The school recorded an impressive performance with one student, Bijou Vemba, achieving a remarkable academic turnaround. Vemba, who had previously scored a C- in the 2023 KCSE, was given a second chance to repeat Form Four and managed to score an impressive A of 84 points in the 2024 exam.
MP Shah Chania Girls' Chief Principal, Lilian Wambui Muhuni, reported that the school had a mean score of 7.376, with 14 students attaining A minus. Out of 364 students who sat for last year’s exams, 242 students will be joining university, marking a transition rate of 66.44%.
Call for Government Support in New Funding Model
Principal Muhuni also called on the government to address the new funding model for university admissions. She emphasized the need for financial support to ensure students who qualify for university admission can access the necessary funds to pursue their desired courses.
